Provoke others to good works through encouragement. We never build up or help others by criticizing them and bringing out their faults.
I am guilty of this and I repent!

Sometimes you can't win.....
My eldest daughter Ana came rushing out to me tonight pointing to a hair on her head that she thought was white/gray. She was very distraught. I brought her to the lamp and examined the hair, separated it and proceeded to pull it out. Upon further investigation, we concluded that it was just a highlighted hair, not white but rather a very light shade of auburn. Which then caused my daughter to rush out of the room exclaiming "you pulled out my highlight".
Aren't kids wonderful!

Grace
Its not about you, its all about HIM.
A man in our church said this past Sunday, that God's glory will eclipse everything, our accomplishments and trophies, as well as our failures and shame.
Its all about HIM! Jesus!

Update on Vienna
She is doing really well with all of her shots and testing. She pricks herself now for her testing and rarely ever complains about her shots, she is getting three a day, and 7 testings a day.
She is on .50 units of Humalog for every 10mg of carbs that she eats. So we have to count how many carbs she is getting at each meal and then give her the amount of Humalog, insulin, that she would need to cover those carbs. So far her skin is doing well with all the shots. I give them to her behind her arms where it is fatty and on her legs.
Ana is a big help and can now give shots and everything if I need to be out of the house.
I thank God that she doesn't need the long-acting insulin right now, which means one less shot.
She is gaining weight again and becoming more aware of her body. She knows when her blood sugar is getting low and will come and tell me that her legs feel shaky.
God is good and in control and he has allowed this for his glory!

From the mouths of my kids.........
Yesterday, I was in the car and I heard on the radio how that people were protesting outside Mattel in Ca. somewhere because Mattel is using trees from the rain forest, supposedly, to package their Barbie dolls and other toys. A spokesperson for the protesters said that if kids knew where the packaging for their toys was coming from, they would be upset.
So I asked my oldest son, who did not hear the program, "Drew, do you care about the packaging on the toys we buy you, I mean where it comes from?" He said "Yes!" I was astounded that he cared and asked him "Why?" He replied, "because if it doesn't have packaging then it isn't new and I don't want any used toys!" Ha! Ha!

Why do we think we can do anything?
How many of us as Christians have been living our lives, our way, worshipping God our way, and not realizing how far our hearts really are from Him.
Why do we think we can do _________, you fill in the blank, on our own, instead of waiting upon and trusting in him. We are deceived.
We cannot do anything without him, at least not anything that has any lasting eternal value. I have been saved for 23 years as of last May, and in all those years, I thought I had surrendered my life to Jesus and made him Lord, but I was really trying to serve him in my own way, my own strength, my own love....how sad it is to know how futile and meaningless were my efforts.
But I give praise to God, who is the faithful and just and true God. Deut. 32:4. He has opened my eyes. No longer is it a chore to pray and read the word, it is like breathing, something I need and delight in doing.(who doesn't like breathing)
God is pouring out his spirit in these last days upon all flesh. Enter into the flow and surrender the very essence of who your are to him; lay everything down, everything, YOUR SIN(pride, vanity, jealousy, envy, bitterness, unforgiveness), YOUR DREAMS (that perfect job, that marriage you have longed for, that child you have longed for, financial security), YOUR WAYS (this is how I am, this is my calling, this is my culture, this feels comfortable)....
This is not easy, it is the way of the cross, "not my will Lord, but THINE be done".
I can see for the first time, how what I had planned pales in comparison to what He is doing. My plans look like dung compared to what He is doing now in me. And I am just getting a glimpse. I am just getting a taste of what is to come.
I can truly agree with my whole heart with what the bible says in Deut. 32:4, "He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he." This doesn't mean that everything in the natural is perfect, far from it, I have three children with special needs, financially strained, and overwhelmed with homeschooling....but those are all external things, that God can change in an instant. Internally I have peace, contentment and joy, and above all hope for the future!

The greatest of these....
What will endure when all else fails? What covers all wrong doing and sin? What casts out all fear?.........LOVE. God's love. True love. Not romantic love, or something that comes from human flesh; I am talking about Love that comes from above. It is supernatural...Jesus displayed this love when he came to earth as a man, when he touched and healed the masses, when he died on the cross for a world that for the most part was rejecting him, when he asked the Father to forgive those who were crucifying him, when he told the women at his empty tomb to "But be going; tell the disciples and Peter, He goes before you into Galilee; you will see Him there, [just] as He told you." Here he personally mentions Peter, the disciple who had denied him not three days earlier. He showed his love when he sent the Holy Spirit to teach, guide, comfort and empower us.
God is love. 1 John 4:8 says "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. Love is not something you can muster up with your own strength, wisdom or feelings. It comes from above and will consume you, heal you, and flow out of you. It is love that is given freely, just for the sake of giving, asking nothing in return. It is this love we must be filled with in these evil days.
The bible says in Matthew 24:12-13, "Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved."
We must be filled with the love of God. Love covers a multitude of sin.
In the last days as evil increases and according to 2 Timothy 3:2-4, "People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God--". Notice the phrase "without love" in the scripture above.
This love, the love that comes from God, is patient, is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Cor. 13)
I don't know about you, but when I read this, I think there is no way I can do this. And I am right. I....cannot do it on my own, but with God all things are possible. He can fill a vessel, me, you, with His love and change the world, one person at a time. We must be filled with his love and cling to our Savior, it is our only hope!
God bless you, fill you, and keep you until his coming!

The Cross
Are you alive or dead? If you are reading this post I assume you are alive. I am not speaking about physically alive or dead, but spiritually. To be alive spiritually you must be born again, which means you have surrendered your life to Jesus Christ and asked him to forgive you for your sins.
After we as Christians become born again, we must then begin the walk of death. What am I talking about? Paul said in "I die daily" in 1 Cor. 15:31, and in Romans 8:36 Paul talks about facing death every day. Did he merely mean hardships and trials. I do not believe so. I believe he was also talking about dying to his flesh. To the desires of his flesh, whether pride, lust, greed, and even his very will.
This daily dying is a life long process. We must take up our cross and follow Jesus and on that cross die "daily".
When Jesus died upon his cross, He was poured out for the whole world. His blood purchased for us everything we could ever need, including the price for our redemption. But he could only be poured out once he was upon the cross.
I hear a midnight cry going out, run to the cross, embrace it, die there, die to everything except the will of God. Let even who you have always been, your personality, your desires, your dreams, your knowledge and wisdom...let it all die there...then.....
You too will be poured out for others. You will be used by God as a life being poured out for his glory.
We cannot run from the cross anymore. Now is the time to weep and mourn and fast in sackcloth and ashes. Now is the time to cling to our cross as the key to open the door of true life in the present and future. The key of David.
Matthew 16:24-25 says "Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any [man] will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

Word for Today
Trust in the Lord with all of your heart; lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your path. Proverbs 3:5-6
